An avid student of life and the world around her, Elma Rauser’s passion is to recreate the sensations and detail of each scene that she captures on camera or canvas.

 

Her work piques the interest of the viewer. Her novel subject matter and perspectives often evoke questions, leaving the viewer wanting to learn more.

Her enthusiasm for understanding and becoming absorbed by her subject matter is as evident as her range of works, from portraits of children and adults enjoying experiences in nature to the rusted relics of days past found in abandoned farm yards or lake beds.

 

Elma’s strong connection to the outdoors and nature act as fuel for her creative inspiration, a time for peaceful contemplation as well as gathering source photography and sketches. 

 

Elma’s desire to capture a unique perspective often leads her to seek unusual vantage points, from waist high snow to wading through a murky stream at dusk. Her focus on her subject and her attention to each detail comes from an innate sense of interest, as well as inspiration from watching her grandchildren grow.

 

Born in Southern Manitoba, Elma’s first explorations in Art came through sketching and illustrating catalogues. In later years, she experimented with various media from pastel, charcoal, oils, watercolour to acrylics and photography.

 

Her work is now seen in private collections in the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Germany. She participates in several Art associations and exhibits in Manitoba Art Expo. Her acrylic, watercolour and photography works have garnered several awards.

 

Elma’s work as a teacher of Art has been featured on CTV, the Winnipeg Free Press was and in the Selkirk Journal. She teaches painting classes, runs painting workshops and has organized several Art shows.

In Spring of 2015, she co-designed and then painted “Bear of the Aurora” for the Bears on Broadway project, as well, she painted a portion of the MOSAIC Mural for the 2013 Quebec Canada Games.

Elma Rauser lives in the town of Birds Hill, Manitoba near Birds Hill Provincial Park and a short drive from the Whiteshell lake country, areas she enjoys regularly.
