Born in Quebec, Diane has been living in Winnipeg for 37 years. She started painting after getting hooked on watercolor during a trip to Europe as a young adult. For many years, it was an activity she did while working in communications and translation and raising her family but in her forties, she completed a BFA at the University of Manitoba.

 

She has participated in many solo and group exhibitions, including at La Maison des artistes visuels francophones in Saint-Boniface and at several Winnipeg galleries with the Grey Matters collective. She has also been involved with the Learn through the Arts Program and the Winnipeg Art Gallery School Programs and has given art workshops to adults. Diane is a published author with four children’s novels and short stories written in French.

In her art practice, she mostly works in acrylic and watercolor but she likes to experiment with different media and techniques. Some of her recent ventures include wire and embroidery. Her subject matter is mostly determined by her life experiences documented in photographs. She is a woman of many interests, including hiking, kayaking, traveling, growing things, playing ukulele and collecting rocks. She depicts her world in a semi realistic way influenced by oriental art.
